This child is called Rosana and has been one of our new family members since January 2025. Rosana is 8 years old. She lost her parents when she was very small. Her parents had an accident and died. She lived with her grandmother in the village. Her grandmother is not able to raise her, and she asked us to help her. It's very sad. We did all the protocols, and now she is in our orphanage. She also needs help.

Ikrams is a boy and 5 years old.
He came to our center in January 2025 and thus to our small UMA family. He has neither father nor mother and lived with his grandmother and grandfather in the village of Usambara. The grandparents are already old and can no longer take care of the boy.

Halima was born on September 19, 2018, and came to our center at the age of 4. She is a cheerful child who loves to sing and dance. At first, she attended kindergarten. Her first day of school in January 2024 was very special for her. Before she came to the UMA Center, she lived with her grandfather. She lost her parents in a fire accident. However, Halima is also ill. She suffers from anemia and seizures.

Kigiani John Fredi was born on May 10, 2019. He came to our center at the age of 4. Before coming to the UMA center, he lived with his grandfather. His father died, and his mother left the hospital without him on the day he was born and never returned.Kigian has grown into a helpful boy who enjoys helping others. In 2024, he is still the youngest resident and attends kindergarten/preschool.He wants to become a soldier.

He came to our center at the age of 10 and attended the fourth grade at a public school.Isumail is a very helpful boy who, like all children, enjoys loving attention. At school, he has some catching up to do in math and English.After completing his 7 years of schooling, he would like to attend secondary school at a private school. His dream is to become a soldier.Isumail is very sensitive and often gets infections in winter.

Mwanahawa is Zalihata's twin sister. Both were born on June 13, 2011. She was 11 years old when she came to our center and was attending fifth grade at a public school.
She was born as the younger twin, just five minutes before her sister. Mwanahawa lived with relatives in very poor conditions before she came to the UMA Center.She is top of her class. Her dream is to attend secondary school after primary school. She is very hopeful of achieving her goal of becoming a doctor.
We will support her in this.

Saidi was born on July 4, 2017, and came to our center as a 6-year-old boy who was already attending first grade. He is a quiet boy who enjoys reading stories and performs very well in school. Saidi also speaks good English.Saidi needs a lot of attention to help him overcome his doubts and strengthen his self-confidence. His dream is to become a judge and ensure justice in the country.Before he came to our center, he lived with his grandmother. Both of his parents died of AIDS.

Pendo came to our center in 2022 as a 4-year-old girl. We celebrate her birthday on March 13 and only know that she was born in 2018. There is no birth certificate. Before she came to our center, she lived with her grandparents and attended kindergarten. She no longer has a father or mother. She loves to sing and is a very outgoing girl. As our “little princess,” she is especially loved by every visitor.In January 2024, she proudly started school. She already speaks simple English well and is doing very well. She enjoys learning and finds it very easy.

Her dream is to study abroad and become a doctor so that she can help people at the KCMC University Hospital in Moshi.

She should grow up in a loving home and have the opportunity to make her dream come true.

Her parents moved to other cities and left her behind. No one knows where they are.She would like to become a teacher.

Zakaria was born on October 15, 2015. His mother abandoned him shortly after his birth. His father suffered a stroke shortly before his birth and was unable to care for Zakaria himself. He passed away in 2023. Like Luquman, Zakaria had already been in another orphanage, but it had to close its doors. This left him on the streets again. On his second attempt, he came to our Upendo Mama Africa Center in August 2023.We will monitor his school performance and his character and support him so that he too can lead a self-determined life.
